The role
IWG is looking for a solutions architect who proactively leads and supports transformation activities guiding the design and management of a portfolio of solutions. Solutions include projects, products, systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information), shared infrastructure services and shared application services.
We require someone with a deep understanding of business strategy, outcomes, business capabilities, value-streams, and business processes. The solutions architect provides the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks to support the development of technology solutions, ensuring that solutions meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards. This role will create deliverables for managing the organization's portfolio of "to be" and "as is" solutions and components, enabling and driving business outcomes.

What you’ll need to succeed
This is the perfect role for someone who is adept at working creatively and analytically to propose solutions to business problems. You’ll ideally have the ability to influence and persuade business leaders, IT leaders and IT development teams, facilitating decision-making where needed. You’ll be technologically neutral with an unbiased approach toward technology or vendor choice, but able to quickly comprehend the benefits of new technologies; at the same time maintaining a clear focus on results. You should be intellectually curious with drive, integrity and the skills to work effectively in a team environment and lead cross-functional teams.
If you’re able to understand long-term and short-term perspectives, and translate future-state business capabilities and needs into solution architecture requirements then we’re keen to hear from you. It will also be critical for this person to have the capability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and non-technical audiences alike, while simultaneously proposing and estimating the financial impacts of the activities

• Acts as an internal consultant on a broad range of technologies, platforms and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes.
• Translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work
• Leads evaluation, design and analysis for the implementation of a solutions architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies
• Analyses the business-IT environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement
• Conduct appraisal, selection and testing of new systems
• Provides deliverables like standard definitions, reference models and solution designs to help the architecture review board (ARB) assess the impact of new and ongoing technology investment on the business and IT estate.
• Facilitates the evaluation and selection of software product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations.
• Conduct cost benefit analysis on new solutions
• Produce design collateral timeously, efficiently, of excellent quality
• Provides consulting support to system architects within agile teams to ensure the project or product is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture.
• Validate success of proposed solutions by monitoring outcome and checking against requirements
• Develop personal knowledge and share insights with team members

Qualifications/ Skills / Experience:
• BSc (Engineering, Computer Science or related) required, MSc/MBA or above preferred.
• Demonstrable relevant industry experience working in development and integration of large-scale solutions involving multiple technologies, functions and interfaces across in-house and vendor-supplied systems.
• Deep practical knowledge of software engineering, applications and IT Infrastructure
• Good understanding of strategic and new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models
• Experience developing architecture blueprints, strategies and roadmaps
• Experience delivering presentations to senior-level executives and technical audiences
• Enterprise software systems selection and implementation experience
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Knowledge of programming and data analysis
• A good understanding of business processes
• Knowledge of Azure and the Microsoft development stack is preferred
• Knowledge of the Microsoft Office and Dynamics 365 platform is preferred
• Cloud related infrastructure and applications experience
• Web, mobile and e-commerce applications experience
• Organised, creative and analytical mind-set.
• Good negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
• Exposure and working level knowledge of working with and interfacing to global delivery teams
• Excellent English communication and executive level presentation skills.
• Proven ability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally.
• Ability to adapt and learn quickly
• Good commercial understanding and awareness
