The role

The Microsoft Power Platform team is responsible for actively improving operational efficiencies through the adoption of the MS Power Platform as an enabling technology for IWG. We directly engage in building new Power Platform solutions within the platform. We also evangelize and coach end users and citizen developers so that they can proactively solve their daily challenges using a nocode/low-code approach. In addition, we oversee and govern the Power Platform through establishment of the necessary guardrails and monitoring procedures to safeguard sensitive business data and ensuring continuity.

We require an experienced Technical Team Lead with a strong technical background in the Power Platform. This role will lead the IWG Power Platform developers, and forms part of a broader Delivery Team that includes Architects, Functional Consultants, Business Analysts, Project Managers, Testers, Release Manager and DevOps.

 

What you’ll need to succeed

You’ll ideally have come from a Dynamics 365 CE / Power Platform background and moved into a lead role, or senior role, in recent years. You’ll have proven experience working in and leading a mixed development team that could be in-house, near-shore or off-shore. You’ll have worked in a ‘high traffic’ environment such as e-commerce or alternatively within a consultancy. You should be comfortable operating autonomously and assuming a role with wide responsibility, as well as be naturally creative in your approach to problem-solving.

You’ll have demonstrable experience in being the interface between the technical delivery team and other stakeholders such as Architects, Functional Consultants, Business Analysts and Project Managers. You will also have experience in the introduction and delivery of an Application LifeCycle Management process and are comfortable with delivery and deployment of multiple pipelines working in parallel. 

 

Role and Responsibilities 

  • Provide technical expertise, direction, and leadership to the Power Platform technical team while ensuring that the “big picture” business objectives stay top of mind.
  • Day-to-day management of the technical teams, working closely with the Project Managers to provide information around scheduling, risks, issues, changes, etc.
  • Lead team in designing and building of Power Platform solutions that meet requirements, fulfil the acceptance criteria, and solve the challenges.
  • Responsible for end-to-end technical assurance, technical governance, technical best practices, the reuse of technical assets, and the assignment of technical work.
  • Mentor and coach Power Platform developers and inform management if there are concerns with resource capabilities.
  • Participates in daily stand-ups to raise blockers and report on progress.
  • Ensure all components of the technical architecture are properly integrated and implemented.
  • Ensure testing or production defects are resolved in a cost effective, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Work with senior members of the Power Platform team on developing and implementing operational improvements within the team.
  • Work closely with the teams to ensure they are correctly using the ALM process for promoting code to the appropriate environments and monitor the promotion of such code.
  • Manage the technical deployment of both planned and ‘hotfix’ releases to ensure that they that follow the IWG SDLC & ALM process.
  • Review and configure the IWG DevOps pipelines.
  • Participate in all product design sessions to ensure compliance with the IWG enterprise architecture and IT strategy.
  • Manage technical team capacity across project roadmap and high priority items when they come in. 

 

Qualifications /Skills / Experience

  • Collaborative, team player, excellent communication skills.
  • Relentlessly curious about the business and your domain of expertise.
  • Extensive experience designing and building Power Platform solutions which leverage Canvas Apps, Model Driven App, Power Automate, Logic Apps, Dataflows as well as custom coded components.
  • Demonstrable experience architecting/designing large-scale Power Platform projects.Proven experience functioning as a Technical Team Leader on a Power Platform team including assigning tasks, performing code reviews, mentoring, etc.
  • Understanding the Power Platform application life cycle management process
  • Familiarity with Azure’s capabilities and how they can be effectively leveraged together with the Power Platform.
  • Functional and Technical expertise in Power Platform configuration, web service programming, development, and Application Integration capabilities
  • Demonstrable experience with DevOps and Power Platform ALM processes.
  • Knowledge of UX/UI design patterns and best practices is a valuable plus.
