The role

IWG is looking for a Head of Customer Applications who will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of all front-end applications of the IWG digital platform. The Head of Customer Applications will work with internal and external stakeholders to establish the business needs and then guide the development teams in building the prioritised capabilities that deliver the best commercial impact.

You’ll have the right blend of business, design and technical skills to be able to provide the bridge between customers, business and the development teams. You’ll need drive and an agile mind set together with the ability to leverage the resources of a global company will be critical.



  • Take ownership of all customer applications of the new digital platform
  • Contribute and influence the overall front-end digital platform strategy as defined by the products team and key stakeholders
  • Lead the team of technical leads to design, build and support best in class, enterprise grade app solutions.
  • Champion best practise (technically and methodically) and ensure quality standards are maintained at all times, applying and enforcing quality software engineering practises through all phases of development into production.
  • Collaborate with technology leadership teams to plan, scope and develop the yearly strategy, budget and key objectives.
  • Own and manage the relationships with outsourced development partners, service providers, digital agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business goals to inform the product priorities and improvement recommendations.
  • Develop strong relationships and regularly communicate with product stakeholders and customers to shape the product delivery strategy.
  • Maintain and communicate product roadmaps and release plans.
  • Evaluate product performance and proactively champion product improvements.
  • Lead the development teams to scope, plan and deliver new enhancements.
  • Ensure alignment and adherence to corporate, financial and IT standards (e.g., architecture, compliance, security).


Qualifications/ Skills / Experience:

  • BSc (Engineering, Computer Science or related) required, MSc or above preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in digital application development, design, UX/UI principles. Proven experience in a software engineering environment with a strong software development or coding background.
  • 5+ years of dev teams management and technical delivery management.
  • Thought leader in the digital platform technology space. Expertise working with project managers, technical leads, and analysts across the SDLC.
  • High level solution architecture experience. An ability to translate real business problems into technical solutions.
  • Experience delivering large scale digital application projects to tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of microservices and APIs.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, DevOps release management, CI/CD and test integration.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills required to manage executive communications and negotiate with partners and providers.
  • Excellent written communications skills especially in terms of exec reports and presentations.
  • Must be highly organized, autonomous and confident under pressure.
  • Strong team player prepared to work flexibly across a matrix organization.
  • Pragmatic decision-making skills and the ability to mentor/motivate technical teams.
  • Good working knowledge of server-side languages (preferably C# .NET) and SQL.
