Job Purpose

You will be part of the Financial Reporting team, responsible for all elements of statutory compliance for the UK business.  As part of this role you will assist in the preparation and management of the production of all statutory accounts and annual returns for the UK business (circa 350 entities). 

In addition to statutory reporting, you will also work with the UK Tax Manager to produce the UK VAT and corporation tax returns.

This role will report into the UK Head of Financial Reporting and will be based in Belfast.

Key Responsibilities

UK Statutory Compliance

  • Responsibility for the preparation and submission of individual company statutory accounts for all IWG UK legal entities. This includes finalising accounts with the auditors, filing accounts at Companies House, and preparing IXBRL submissions for HMRC.
  • Ensure that statutory accounts are prepared in accordance with Companies Act legislation, relevant GAAP and IWG accounting policies.
  • Responsibility for Company Secretarial duties for the IWG UK legal entities, including annual returns and other forms as may be required from time to time, as well as updating these records on internal systems (e.g. Blueprint).

Audit Support

  • Support the UK Head of Financial Reporting and the Global Service Centre (GSC) in the successful and timely completion of the annual external audit.
  • Provide explanation and information to External auditors as required.
  • Consider Management Letter points raised by Auditors and take necessary corrective action.
  • Support the Internal Audit process as and when requested, including the provision of explanations / information as required.

Tax Compliance (VAT and corporation tax)

  • Assist the UK Tax Manager with the preparation of corporation tax computations.
  • Responsibility for accurate submissions & payment to HMRC for all VAT registrations in the Group. This extends to completing control account reconciliations & trend analyses.
  • Implementing an adequate system of internal controls over the General ledger in regards to VAT sensitive areas. This will involve identifying control weaknesses and taking appropriate corrective action.

Other responsibilities

  • MONTHLY PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
  • Ensure that Statutory P&Ls and Balance sheets are reviewed on a quarterly basis and that charges are recorded in the correct legal entity.
  • Assist on general ledger functions such as Treasury administration, manual invoicing and local administration.
  • Produce timely and accurate financial analysis to support all functions of the business.

 

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • Newly Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA)
  • Experienced in preparation of statutory accounts under IFRS and UK GAAP
  • Experience of providing critical business insights through the completion of detailed financial analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills, proficient with other MS office products
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity
  • Self-starter able to work autonomously
  • Keen problem solver
  • Ability to adapt and pick up new skills quickly

Desirable

  • Experience working with teams across more than one country within an international organisation
  • Experience from audit department
  • Ability to work with diverse and remote teams, preferably in a shared service centre environment.
