Job Purpose

The design director is a critical role within a small, tight-knit team focussed on ensuring our centres are designed to a high quality. The role is focussed on both innovating new designs, as well as upholding, updating, and standardising our current designs across our brand portfolio. The design director is therefore responsible and accountable for the designs of IWG’s global portfolio, both in our owned centres and our managed partner centres. The role can be shaped by the right person to deliver market leading centres.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Innovate and design new products to enhance our centres
  • Launch new and enhance existing brands to elevate IWG’s brand stack
  • Own and manage sustainability agenda for design and our centres
  • Create and implement a process to ensure partner or landlord built centres are to the expected quality
  • Create fit out design solutions/ specifications from a technological, sales, operational and marketing perspective
  • React to customer and centre feedback to retrospectively improve design on a centre-by-centre basis
  • Work with internal team to create digital design guides which are included within the externally facing partner platform
  • Enhance and maintain our current design guides for core brands
  • Evaluate current design guides (including furniture) against commercial goals, ensuring delivery of cost saving targets
  • Interface with procurement/supply chain teams on all design input
  • Manage all design related queries from fit-out and partner teams
  • Adapt design to local legislation, availability, production, customs in compliance with the brand design guidelines and manage relevant country stakeholders

 

Experience / required skills:

  • Qualified architect with experience as a designer
  • Co-working, office or residential experience preferred
  • Proven ability to implement economical designs
  • Proven ability to enhance and elevate existing designs and processes
  • Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies
  • Proven record of successfully managing a team
  • Strong skills in managing internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to work cross-functionally throughout organisation
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Fluent knowledge of the English language
  • Self-starter, bringing a valuable contribution to a small team
  • Motivated to challenges the way things are currently done
